9" Milo Chocolate Pie
Nostalgic. Indulgent. Playful. (V)
This pie is a deep dive into my childhood, brought together with playful touches and loads of flavour!
The crust is a blend of digestive biscuits and Ritters cornflake chocolate. The digestive cookies are a tribute to my grandma, who ate them religiously and made sure we did too — whether we liked it or not. The Ritters cornflake chocolate is a nod to an old chef boss who was cereal-obsessed and passed a bit of that obsession on to me.
The filling is pure childhood nostalgia: Milo malt powder. My brother and I practically lived off this stuff growing up. They called it a “sports drink’, but lets be real — it was sugary, malty chocolate pretending to be something healthier. Turning it into a rich mousse with dark and milk Belgian chocolate seemed like the natural level up.
And then there’s the honeycomb, made with maple syrup and shiro miso. It’s not tied to childhood memories, but it adds the perfect sweet-salty crunch to round everything out.
This pie is a mash-up of people, flavours and memories that shaped me. It’s indulgent, nostalgic and absolutely worth it. Creating it was fun and I’m so excited to share it with you all! Hopefully it adds a little extra to your special events!
